"After spending an amazing day in Supria's encaustic painting workshop, I knew that there was something special about her and asked her to organize an “Inner Diva” day for the women in my family. The workshop delivered above and beyond my expectations. Creating the work forced each of us to reflect on what it is that is special about us, our lives and who we are as women in this world. The work that we produced was very powerful. Sharing what we had created with each other was poignant and uplifting. There was a lot of laughter, some tears and warm hugs. Using art to bring people together in this manner is powerfully cathartic and one of the most valuable family experiences I have had. Thanks to Supria who made it all possible". ~AR
The Calming Box - An Expressive Arts Play Shop:
This workshop is more of a “play shop”, using art to creatively explore and engage with yourself in a new way.
Do you sometimes find yourself derailed by big emotions like anxiety, sadness and/or fear? In this artistic play shop you will create a 'calming box' to help bring balance, comfort and self-care back into your day. Facilitators Linzy Bonham, MSW, RSW and Supria Karmakar, MSW, RSW will guide you with:
- Examples of effective calming resources you can include in your calming box
- Discussion of self-calming and its benefits
- Art techniques using acrylic paints, glazes, glues, mixed media, papers and embellishments to create your own calming box
You will leave with a tangible, personal and meaningful resource for your self-care. All materials and refreshments will be provided. You are also welcome to bring personal images, tools and mementoes for your box. No artistic experience is necessary.
Begins Friday October 27th 6-9pm and Saturday October 28th 10-4pm in Elora. Cost: $225 Limited spots. For more information or to register email email@example.com
